The hair has changed color and I've put on a few pounds since the picture above from 1978. That's me center stage in faded blue jeans probably playing Shucking The Corn at the Arkansas Traveler Theater in Hardy Arkansas. As much as I enjoyed performing for the audience, the pre-show warm up with those great musicians was even more fun and a great learning experience.
During that time of my life, I also performed at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View Arkansas. I was also lucky enough to meet Grandpa Jones after he moved to Mountain View from Nashville. Grandpa was opening a dinner theater in Mountain View in the summer of 1986, and he invited me to play there. As luck would have it, I enlisted in the Air Force and left for basic training before he opened his theater.
